How to Choose Sticker Adhesive: Solvent, Water-Based, Removable, Temperature-Resistant
Whether a sticker stays or peels and re-sticks comes down to the adhesive. Solvent / water-based / removable / strong-tack / temperature-resistant — pick by where it sticks; a factory gives the table.

The adhesive sits on the foam back; wrong scene means falling off or residue. Here is the table by “where it sticks” — no chemistry to memorize, just match.
Common adhesive types
- Solvent: high initial tack, heat/moisture resistant, plastic/metal/glass general, hard to remove — outdoor, automotive
- Water-based: eco low-odor, good on paper/smooth, not for high humidity/heat — indoor gift cards
- Removable: peels as a whole within a window, no residue — temporary, price tags
- Strong-tack: rough/low-energy surfaces (PP/PE) too, costs harder repositioning
- Temperature-resistant: fridge magnets, car hot zones where normal adhesive flows and fails
How to pick by scene
Kids reward / journal: removable or water-based, fear residue on books; automotive / massage gear: solvent heat-resistant; fridge magnet: temperature-resistant; gift card / packaging: water or solvent by outdoor or not. Unsure? Tell us “what, how long, re-stick or not” and we name the adhesive.
Two traps
- Stick then freeze at once: adhesive not wetted, edges lift — rest at room temp 24h before freezing
- Curved / uneven surface: thin foam + strong-tack; thick foam hugs curves poorly
Tips for working with us
On order, put the “final substrate” in the spec (plastic type / coated or not); we match adhesive to substrate — far more accurate than a vague “make it stick.”
